When you’re introducing the world’s best Italian-made hair color to your customer base, what’s the most impactful way to do it?

Shot in 2023 on the Blackmagic Design Pocket Cinema Camera 6K G2 platform, this introductory video was designed to give Hattori Hanzo Shears reps the ability to perform an instant “mini demo” of Duomo Hair Color for thousands of hairstylists each month, within the tight time constraints of the classes they were already leading.
With a runtime of 4:20 (later shortened to 3:03), the piece gave reps just enough time to introduce the brand, showcase the results, and let the experts speak for themselves—all without disrupting the existing class flow.
We recruited a lineup of elite colorists to share real-world testimonials about Duomo’s performance, interviewing eleven professionals during a hair event in Austin, Texas—including NAHA Award winner Wendy Bond, one of the top color educators in the world.
Finding the right way to present the video on the road took some experimentation. The LG 27-Inch StanbyME offered stunning visuals and a rugged case, but at nearly 30 pounds, it wasn’t exactly travel-friendly. We eventually landed on the Arovia Splay—a foldable, portable projector-screen hybrid originally designed for military use. Expanding like an umbrella into a 24-inch display, it was large enough for in-person demos yet compact enough to fit in a carry-on bag.
