You can try to train people the “standard” way of doing things until the end of time.
But sometimes, you just have to show them how it’s done.
And when your sales force is filled with top performers—why not follow them around and watch them in action?
Over the course of two years, I had the privilege of shadowing four of Hanzo’s most successful sales reps, documenting their routines, mindset, and field-tested strategies. From hours of preparation to endless territory drives and the cascade of follow-ups that capped each day—we captured it all.
• Customer issues? Watch how they turn them into loyalty.
• Gatekeepers in the way? See how they break through.
• Struggling to sell premium products in tough markets? These reps did it daily—and shared exactly how.
It wasn’t all wine and roses:
• We almost destroyed a toll booth in Virginia.
• We drove through a New Jersey neighborhood that made us feel like we were in Deliverance.
• One rep left their keys in the ignition—we were lucky the car wasn’t stolen.
• And I’m still not sure whether one of my Boston Uber drivers was a serial killer…or just had serious anger management issues.
All drama aside, in-person modeling is one of the best ways to teach. But with a widely distributed sales team, sometimes the best approach is to take the training out of the field, give it cinematic polish, and share it with the entire organization.
These are their stories. And if you want to see the "tollbooth" just click on the link below.
