Capturing Porsche
At Laguna Seca

“We need someone to run PTZ in the Porsche Rennsport production trailer at Laguna Seca in Monterey. You might also need to work a camera on Turn 10 if we’re shorthanded. It’s a paid gig—meals and travel covered, plus an all-access media pass. Are you in?”

It’s not every day you get a call like that—especially if you already own a Porsche and happen to be a lifelong fan of the brand. But that’s exactly what happened one fateful day in 2023: “Come to the mecca of everything Porsche—and get paid to do it.”

I’d worked on big productions before—but never on a racetrack. The experience was eye-opening: from watching the crew lay what felt like hundreds of miles of fiber-optic and power cables, to the nonstop hustle inside the production trailer, to the roar of cars tearing down the track. Working on the broadcast team at Porsche Rennsport was nothing short of the perfect weekend for this Porsche fan.
