I got a call from Hattori Hanzo Shears Rep Justin Dickman one day, and we started talking about educator social media.
Justin: “We need to do something to encourage educators to post more often. Their content is great—but we could use more frequency. I think some of them feel like creating posts takes too much time.”
Me: “What do you suggest?”
Justin: “Let’s profile Wayne Tuggle! He’s about to hit 600,000 followers—and have you noticed that every one of his videos is almost exactly the same? I think a video showing that would be hilarious… and really effective.”
I knew Wayne’s videos were similar—but I didn’t realize just how similar.
After watching more of Wayne’s TikToks, I saw he’d cracked the code: a repeatable format that delivered massive engagement with almost no post-production. Every clip followed the same structure—fast-paced, personal, and immediately interactive.
We pulled a few of Wayne’s TikToks and edited them into a short, side-by-side montage that showed just how consistent his approach really was. The result was both funny and insightful.
When other educators saw it, they instantly “got it”—social media doesn’t have to be a second job. It just needs a formula that works.
The video was so effective that we ultimately repackaged it as Wayne’s official “walkout” video for his main-stage appearances at major hair shows. Audiences couldn’t wait to see his presentation.
